If the world were perfect, you would get time off after a breakup.  You wouldn't have to go to school or work, and you certainly wouldn't have to write literary analysis papers or take sociology finals.  And all your friends could get time off too, so that you wouldn't be by yourself.  They could hang out with you and eat junk food with you and tell you that boys are stupid.  And you could have some time to just heal.

Sigh.  Too bad the world's not perfect.  I better get back to work on my paper.  After all, I need a full night's sleep before my soc final in the morning.

OK, OK, I get it.  When I don't update for three months, people get annoyed at me.  It has just been a very stressful summer.  For anyone who doesn't know, I took two classes first session and I'm taking two classes this session.  So while other people get to sit around doing nothing, I'm working my ass off in an attempt to finish in four.  College is crazy.

OK, that's all really grumpy.  Let me think of something happy... My family is visiting today!  My sister is about to move into her dorm at SFSU.  Go Sarah!  You rock!  Of course, since they're viisitng me I should probably clean up the apartment.  So there's your long-awaited update.  I'll try not to wait so long for the next one.

Damn, I haven't updated this in forever.  What can I say? Picnic Day happened.  So did midterms.

On the bright side, I have really exciting news!  Aggie Band elections were last night, and I won to be the next band librarian!  I am so excited!  I guess my non-band friends might want a little explanation: the Band-uh is student-run, and elects eleven officers who completely run the band.  The librarian is in charge of distributing music and maintaining the music library.  I will be librarian-in-training (or IT) until the changeover of officers at Home Dessert in November.

I also love everyone else who will be on the same officer council as me.  I think it's going to be a great year.

As long as I manage not to short out the power to the ARC by using the copy machine.  Boo for insufficient wiring!

Another getting to-know-you thingy.  Yay!

1: Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4. Write down what it says:

"and sausages, only they still had their skins on."

Oryx and Crake by Margaret atwood, if you're curious.

2: Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What do you touch first?

At the same time, a stapler and a picture of my boyfriend and me.

3: What is the last thing you watched on TV?

Family Guy.  Hell yes.

4: WITHOUT LOOKING, guess what the time is:

10:50

5: Now look at the clock; what is the actual time?

10:46.  Damn, I'm good.

6: With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?

My roommate talking on her cell phone.  I'm not eavesdropping, it's just the only sound in the apartment.  And my rats eating.  That's actually pretty loud.

7: When did you last step outside? What were you doing?

I was outside for a few hours and just got back about twenty minutes ago.  I was hanging with the freshmen at float building.

8: Before you came to this website, what did you look at?

I got this poll off http://pharyngula.org/ and before then I was looking at the fabulous stuff at www.damnhellasskings.com .

9: What are you wearing?

A striped tank top and blue jeans.  No shoes.

10: Did you dream last night?

I don't remember, but apparently I was talking in my sleep, so there you go.

11: When did you last laugh?

Maybe half an hour or so ago.  Dance party madness at float building!

12: What is on the walls of the room you are in?

Quite a few free music posters from the Vandoren company.  A Rose Parade poster.  A jigsaw puzzle my boyfriend put together for me.  An Escher calendar.

13: Seen anything weird lately?

I was at float building.  So yes.  Weirdest thing.... I saw a picture of a cow pole dancing.  Yeah, I think I'll go with that.

14: What do you think of this quiz?

This is fun!  I like the random questions.

15: What is the last film you saw?

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.  It was really good.

16: If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy first?

The optional textbooks for my EAD class.  Yeah, I'm lame.

17: Tell me something about you that I don't know.

I'm wearing blue underwear.

18: If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?

Every child would have a loving family.  I don't really care what the family looks like, as long as it's loving and supportive.

19: Do you like to dance?

Absolutely.

20: George Bush: is he a power-crazy nutcase or some one who is finally doing something that has needed to be done for years?

He scares me.  He really does.

21: Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?

Ummmm... I like Allison a lot.

22: Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?

I like Matthew for a boy.

23: Would you ever consider living abroad?

I would consider.  I've enjoyed my trips out of the country.  I couldn't live there for more than about a year though.  I miss my family enough just living on the other end of California.
